Poll - Eliza Bunts Parrot

HMS Trincomalee is the oldest warship afloat anywhere in Europe...one of the most advanced fighting machines of her age.

Eliza Bunt was a passenger with 2 children during the maiden voyage of HMS Trincomalee 1818-19.

During the voyage she kept a detailed diary of her journey and mentions her parrot Poll, which was most probably a species native to Sri Lanka.

Sadly Poll was killed by a neighbours cat on her return to Britain.

An old reminder that cats and birds dont play well together.
